Camstar Expands Market Lead in Semiconductor Test, Assembly and Packaging (TAP)

Continued Global Adoption of Enterprise Manufacturing Execution and Quality System

Charlotte, NC (February 2, 2007) -  Camstar Systems, Inc., a leading provider of Enterprise Manufacturing Execution and Quality Systems, announced today that it continues to increase market share in one of its core vertical markets, the Semiconductor Test, Assembly and Packaging (TAP). Camstar’s explosive growth, exceeding 78% for the last 12 months, can be attributed largely to the fact that aging legacy manufacturing systems are no longer viable in the current rapidly evolving global business environment. After completing their technology reviews, semiconductor companies are openly acknowledging the need for change and recognize Camstar as the only MES software that has been specifically designed to meet the needs of Semiconductor Backend operations.

Camstar’s InSite Semiconductor TAP Edition, built jointly with its strategic partner – Technology Resources Group, has earned an excellent reputation for significant out-of-the-box capabilities, full configurability and industry best practices that facilitate successful, rapid implementation, a reputation which has driven new customer license sales to rise to record levels. Five of the top ten global semiconductor companies now rely on Camstar for their backend manufacturing operations. Customers who have recently adopted Camstar’s industry-specific application include Cypress, SanDisk, GEM Services, AMD, and Spansion. Existing customers including NXP (previously Philips Semiconductors), Amkor and Renesas have extended their licenses and added new sites, after realizing benefits such as improved yields, greater manufacturing agility, faster time to volume, shorter cycle times and increased control and visibility for better decision making.

Aging legacy systems have become an inhibitor to growth, and manufacturers are keen to implement a solution with the high level of flexibility required to effectively scale manufacturing across their complex global sites. “Manufacturing companies in the semiconductor industry today are faced with higher costs, increasing risk and shorter timelines; it hardly makes sense to rely on outdated legacy manufacturing systems. A State-of-the-art enterprise manufacturing execution system lowers risks by better supporting industry business strategies,” said Julie Fraser of Industry Directions.

“Camstar is confirming its leadership in semiconductor and electronic assembly manufacturing with out-of-the-box industry solutions and a product road map that puts us in a class above other manufacturing execution and quality systems” said Karim Lokas, Director of Product Strategy and Management. “Hi-tech companies are expanding rapidly and they need an application that can scale to support their growth. New product releases in 2007 will leverage the InSite technology platform to continue to provide industry-specific solutions including an Electronics Suite for electronic assembly manufacturers, and enhancements to the Semiconductor TAP Edition.”

Camstar’s configurable solution, rapid implementation methodology, and customer focus have led to strong customer satisfaction in the semiconductor and electronics vertical markets. “We are dedicated to the growth and advancement of our semiconductor and electronics customers,” said Morris St. Angelo, the Managing Director of Asia Operations.

Camstar continues to invest in its global support structure to ensure the success of its hi-tech and semiconductor customers in the Asia region. The company has recently opened a competency center in Shanghai, China to support its customers and partners in the region. The competency center will augment the support offices that are already located in Singapore and Japan.
