Application Helps Global Manufacturer to Deliver New Products Faster
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 10, 2005) - Camstar Systems, Inc, a leading
provider of enterprise manufacturing execution and quality management systems, today
announced that SCHOTT Electronics, a leading optoelectronics manufacturer based
in Landshut, Germany has selected Camstar’s InSite™ application suite to manage
production at its wafer-Level-packaging plant in Singapore. SCHOTT Electronics develops
and markets electronic housing technologies and special electronic components. Technology
Resources Group (TR Group), one of the leading system integrators for the high technology
automation industry and a Camstar partner, will provide professional services for
the deployment, and is expected to deliver a rapid 90-day rollout.
SCHOTT Advanced Packaging Singapore will use InSite | Semiconductor Edition to radically
improve visibility into its production processes, increase yields, and consistently
deliver more product on time by linking customer orders directly to real-time production.
“In our world, manufacturing plants can no longer spend months ramping up
new products,” said Klaus Muecke, managing director of SCHOTT Advanced Packaging
Singapore. “Our dynamic manufacturing environment requires a robust system to manage
our product lifecycles, respond to rapid change in operation processes and speed
our new product introductions. Camstar was an obvious choice because its solution
clearly fits our overall manufacturing strategy.”
The InSite application suite leverages Microsoft .NET technology and includes a
fully Web-based user interface and simplified XML integration. It will link with
SCHOTT’s existing applications to create a unified and dynamic manufacturing model.
The solution enhances SCHOTT’s ability to introduce new products quickly by simplifying
process changes, improving visibility for operations management, and providing detailed
product traceability.
“We needed a solution that would support our existing investment in enterprise and
automation systems, be rapidly deployed with minimum IT resources, and result in
a low cost of ownership,” said Hans-Peter Karpenstein, Managing Director and CFO
at SCHOTT Electronics. “We look to our partners Camstar and TR Group to help us
reach these goals.”
“In today’s manufacturing world, rapid response to change is an imperative to survive,”
said Scott Toney, President and CEO of Camstar. “To support agile manufacturing,
Camstar built a solution that is flexible and adaptable, and specifically meets
our customers’ ever-changing business needs. I am confident that together with TR
Group, we will quickly deliver a world-class manufacturing execution solution that
will positively impact SCHOTT’s bottom line.”
