AMD Selects Camstar's InSite™ Application Suite For its Global Test, Assembly & Packaging Operations

Leading Semiconductor Manufacturer Turns to Camstar for World-Class Multi-site Final Manufacturing Operations

CAMPBELL, Calif. (September 2, 2004) - Camstar Systems, Inc, a leading provider of enterprise manufacturing execution and quality management systems, today announced that Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) is replacing its existing Manufacturing Execution System (MES) with Camstar's InSite™ application suite for test, assembly and packaging operations at its five world-class manufacturing facilities in Singapore, Penang and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Suzhou, China and Bangkok, Thailand. Technology Resources Group (TR-Group), one of the leading system integrators for the semiconductor automation market and a Camstar partner, will provide professional services for this implementation.

AMD will use InSite / Semiconductor Edition tightly integrated into its patented fab automation capabilities known collectively as Automated Precision Manufacturing (APM). With InSite, AMD will improve real-time visibility within its manufacturing operations, enabling it to react faster and with more flexibility to customer demand and improve the ramp-up of new product production. Additionally, this competitive replacement with Camstar's InSite suite of applications will enable AMD to further optimize the use of production assets while reducing costs and improving quality and efficiency.

InSite's technology foundation, which leverages Microsoft .NET technology, including a fully Web-based user interface and ease of integration to existing environment through XML, will allow AMD to smoothly transition to an entirely new MES platform within their manufacturing operations. In addition, InSite provides greater manageability and lower system support costs due to its performance capabilities, open infrastructure and out-of-the-box functionality and integration capability. InSite will be integrated with best-of-breed APM applications, existing legacy applications, and SAP's (NYSE: SAP) enterprise resource planning (ERP) application. By combining InSite with these applications, AMD will be able to improve reception of real-time production information from multiple sites, enabling managers to make more informed business decisions and more quickly modify business processes to meet changing demand.

"InSite's robust technology and easy-to-use interface is ideal for use in our Automated Precision Manufacturing environment," said Charles Clark, director of global manufacturing systems for AMD. "We needed a robust solution that would allow us to easily track production at our five manufacturing facilities, ensure product quality and reduce time to market."

"The relationship between AMD and Camstar was a key factor in the decision to go with InSite," said Mark Remson, director of AMD Asia Pacific Information Technology. "Camstar will provide the solution and service required to support our leading-edge technologies, and we believe Camstar offers the best out-of-the-box MES solution that fully addresses our semiconductor backend operational requirements."

"We are extremely excited that a leading semiconductor manufacturer, such as AMD, has chosen us to manage this key area of their business," said Dave Cone, president and CEO of Camstar. "We have more than 20 years of experience developing manufacturing solutions for the semiconductor industry and are confident that together with TR-Group, we will deliver a world-class manufacturing execution solution that will positively impact their bottom line."

"AMD's standardization on Microsoft .NET for its next-generation manufacturing factories is another endorsement of Microsoft as a provider of proven technology for high-volume, 24x7 operational environments," said Don Richardson, director of the Manufacturing Industry Solutions Group at Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT). "AMD's selection of Camstar, one of our .NET Connected Premium Service partners, further illustrates how a solution based on this technology can deliver considerable value to large companies."
