When a set of devices is tested frequently, it is helpful to ‘bin’ the results into different result categories, such as sorting fruit into high quality, medium quality and waste. In the InSite system, any operation may be associated with a bin profile. This bin profile is set up in advance by an engineer and identifies bin characteristics, such as Bin number, Bin description, Bin disposition (good, scrap, downgrade), Loss code (only for scrap and downgrade), New Product (for Good bins and downgrade only), Split Group (used to group bins into a single output lot), and Max Size (used to automatically split a single bin into more than one lot based on physical size – normally used for tape output). The binning screen pops up automatically for operations where binning is used on a successful move out operation. The dispositions of all parts are determined by the bins, possibly creating sub-lots as a result. Using this function, a factory can easily configure their binning steps and control the disposition of tested parts without programming.
