There are three main types of inquiries that take place for factory
data: online queries, dashboards and reports. Each of these is described below.
The basic TAP Edition comes with a set of reports and inquiries included. Others
can be added as required during implementation. For full reporting functionality,
the optional LiveView module can be added.
Queries
A query is an online, real-time reporting of activity or status of the factory.
It can return information about any aspect of the manufacturing activity such as
lot status or history, employee activity, equipment status or material usage. These
queries are given on demand and are the most common sort of reports run against
the manufacturing system. The InSite | Semiconductor TAP Edition comes with many
such queries predefined. However, a factory may wish to add many of their own since
the information desired may change from factory to factory. The Detailed History
query that comes with the InSite system provides a powerful and flexible tool for
providing an online window into the factory and can be configured by the user to
provide a customized list of data fields without any programming.
Dashboards
A dashboard is the ideal tool for showing a status of activity that is constantly
updated with real-time data. Examples of this would be a monitor displaying a production
line with the current state of each tool displayed as up, down or in setup. Perhaps
a supervisor wants to see the cycle time and yields of each lot processed on the
line as they are happening. A dashboard could provide this on demand. At this time,
the InSite | Semiconductor TAP Edition does not come with pre-defined dashboards.
However, the real-time nature of the information is well suited to provide such
reports. As a service offering, any desired dashboards can be customized for the
factory.
Reports
A report is an off-line query that can examine large amounts of information to provide
a great deal of sophisticated analysis, trending information, cyclical data and
overall performance metrics. The basic Semiconductor TAP Edition comes with a set
of five reports that provide basic management of the information. These reports
include:
WIP Status (Lots by operation)
Cycle Time & Yield by Operation, Lot, Product, Resource or Operator
Pareto chart by operation
Ship Report (Lots waiting at Finished Goods and Projected Ship date)
Lot Start Report (Lot Starts by time period)
Should a factory desire more reports, it is recommended that
the LiveView module be used to have Business Objects
software available along with a predefined universe of the database for the production
of sophisticated reports.
